Danny Boyle Is Reportedly *Thiiis* Close To Directing The 25th ‘Bond’ Film

Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle is reportedly in serious contention to direct the next Bond film, taking over from Skyfall and Spectre director Sam Mendes in the process.

Variety reports that although the 25th film in the storied franchise has a rapidly approaching release date sometime in late 2019, no director has yet signed on to the massive project.

Boyle, however, seems by far the most likely option – not only does he have the big-budget chops and a bit of a prestige factor, the British director has reportedly always wanted to helm a 007 flick.

The addition of any new director will mark a change in direction for the franchise, and in more ways than one. Star Daniel Craig has signed on for the project, but only after an extended period of expressing his distaste for donning the tux once more; any new director will be likely be charged with bringing his tenure to a close, while setting the franchise up for the next Bond.

God knows that’s another issue which needs sorting out.

Perhaps after those two technicalities are finalised, the powers that be can focus on getting Skyfall cinematographer Roger Deakins back on deck. Fuck a martini; give us more of this.
