Consequences Of Moving ‘Neighbours’ To Sexier Time Slot

Lock up Bouncer and tell Dr Karl to crack open the sedatives because shit is about to get salacious on Neighbours once it moves to new 7pm time slot next year.

Neighbours’ current air time of 6.30pm puts the show in a G-rated classification bracket and the move to 7pm will mean the loosening of its classification into a PG rated slot and will free up restrictions in content, plotting and language. Ergo sex scenes will graduate from full-clothed-necking to heavier-petting-in-undergarments? The Australian reported that the show’s writers are excited about the change. Fremantle Media Australia chief executive Ian Hogg said at the time: “Our storyline plans for 2011 are both bold and dramatic.”

To be honest, I haven’t watched ‘Neighbours’ in years (except for a brief revisit when the New Zealand builder guy was on ecstasy at a Lassiter’s party), but I have been told by some longtime watchers of the show (who wish to remain anonymous) that the move to a new time slot is going to throw a massive spanner into the cogs of the universe as they know it. Probably because it’s going to clash with Home And Away.

Graham* said: “That’s not the case at all. I haven’t watched Home & Away since the Marilyn days. It’s just 6.30 was so convenient. I could sneak it in before mid-week dinners or Friday night events. Am I going to have to sacrifice Neighbs now or cut off social life???”

Looks Like tough decisions ahead for Neighbours fans.
