Comedy Central Doubles Down On Snapchat, Greenlights 9 Shows For Ya Phone

Snapchat: it’s not just for toilet selfies and sexts anymore. Entertainment giant Comedy Central has greenlit and is developing nine new series for the platform, firing out snappy little comedy bits that work in the app.
The platform is obviously massive with comedic potential, with comedians using it for rapid-fire visual jokes and icons like DJ Khaled simply being funny by existing and living their absurd, absurd lives via the platform.
A few shows they’ve already been experimenting with are returning: Nikki Glaser’s ‘Quickie with Nikki’, ‘Swag-A-Saurus with James Davis’, ‘Like It with Liza’ and ‘Hot Takes with Brandon Wardell’.
“It’s been great fun experimenting with established and emerging talent on our Snapchat Discover channel,” said President of Original Programming Kent Alterman. “It allows us to play with form and format, and the reception from our fans and the creative community has been tremendously gratifying.”

The new shows include ‘Animal-Lolz’, where comedian Joe Zimmerman shares a bizarro, totally true animal fact every week, and ‘You’re Wrong’ where ‘Inside Amy Schumer’ supporting star Mike Lawrence plays an angry nerd who shares his angry nerd opinions with you. Sounds like… a barrel of laughs.
Though if it sucks, it’s not even that long! That’s the beauty of the medium!
