Comedy Central Lands In Australia, Orders New Webseries From Aunty Donna

Big news for people who like the yucks.

The US’s primary home of all things comedy in Comedy Central have started making in-roads towards global domination. And after a successful entry into the UK a number of years ago, the cable giant now has its sights set on our more colonial shores.
Comedy Central Australia launched its web-presence earlier today, setting up social media accounts and a comedycentral.com.au web home.
And they’re not mucking about with the announcements, for that matter. The now-local arm of the US cable giant has announced it has commissioned a new webseries from the highly popular Melbourne sketch troupe Aunty Donna for their on-going Not For TV series.
The Not For TV series is an on-going web-based service that currently serves as the home for short-run shows such as Six Guys One Car, Roustabout, Questionable Science, and Pixelheads, and was previously the original home of Broad City before it morphed into the giant that it is today.
Aunty Donna becomes the series’ first Australian commission, with the network promising it will be the first of several local productions.
Though Comedy Central remains tight-lipped on what the new Aunty Donna series will be about, given their prior efforts for YouTube or the ABC‘s Fresh Blood, it’s bound to be absolute insanity.
Might be time for the boys to have a coupla bevvies to celebrate!
