Colin Farrell Cast As Wizard In ‘Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them’

Holy shit, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them‘ is shaping up to be a good movie. First, they lock down this year’s Oscar winner for Best Male Actor Eddie Redmayne for the lead role of Newt Scamander, and now they’ve just announced another major casting in Colin Farrell.

Farrell is set to play a wizard named Graves, who Newt Scamander meets in New York, where the story begins. Considering Farrell has delivered consistantly good performances over the years, we’ll forgive him for the balls up trainwreck that True Detective’s second season is turning out to be.

Other recent castings include Tony winner Dan Fogler as an NYC-based Muggle. (Amusing side note: The Hollywood Reporter referred to Fogler’s character as a ‘nonmagical person’. Muggle is in the dictionary, guys. The jig is up.) Actors Katherine Waterston and Alison Sudol have also been cast.

J.K. Rowling is producing this one, alongside Harry Potter producer David Heyman. Hopefully this means avoiding any glaring plot holes along the lines of Harry Potter and the Failure To Explain Who The Marauders Fucking Are. Still grates, that one.

Fantastic Beasts won’t be released until November 18 next year, so I don’t know, maybe pass the time on Mugglenet or something?
