DROP EVERYTHING: The First Photos From ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Are Here

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT A DRILL.

The world has waited with barely-concealed excitement ever since J.K. Rowling – our kind and generous leader – announced she was doing MORE Harry Potter things, this time taking form in a trilogy of films inspired by the Hogwarts required textbook, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them‘, by renowned magizoologist Newt Scamander.

And today, fellow Muggles of the world, we get our first look at the film itself, featuring the delightfully-cheekboned Eddie Redmayne as Newt himself, Katherine Waterston as Porpentina “Tina” Goldstein, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, and Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski.

Entertainment Weekly has the scoop. Their cover features Newt standing in front of the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA), the Yanks’ equivalent to the Ministry of Magic and which riffs along the same theme of Hogwarts’ winged boars, by flanking the entrance with golden eagles.

The film takes place in 1920s New York, and is rumoured to feature an American wizard school. According to the gatekeeper of HP knowledge – the Harry Potter Lexicon – the Salem Witches Institute introduced in Goblet of Fire *may* be a school, but according to the Harry Potter Wikia, it’s for adult witches only.

There may also be ANOTHER school for young witches and wizards, says the Harry Potter Wikia, but while its exact location is unknown, it’s defs not in NYC.

The one thing we do know for sure, however, is that when the Fantastic Beasts trailer finally drops, the world is going to blow its freaking nut.
