Channing Tatum Signs On To Produce Another New ‘Ghostbusters’ Movie

Just when you were all excited about the upcoming all-female Ghostbuters, there’s word out of Hollywood that another Ghostbusters film, this one with an all-male team, is going into production.

That’s officially more Ghostbusters than you can even handle. Well, okay, it’s two of them, but for a beloved film series that’s been dormant since the late ’80s, that’s still a whole bloody lot.
MTV News report that the new entry in the series will function as a “counterpart” to the Paul Feig-directed film, which stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthyLeslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.
Drew Pearce, who wrote Iron Man 3 and the upcoming Mission: Impossible 5 will serve as screenwriter, while Joe and Anthony Russo of Captain America: The Winter Soldier will direct.
The big news, however, is that Channing Tatum has signed on to produce. Given that Tatum’s already producing, and is great in that sweet spot between comedy and action, it would be stupid for him not to star in this thing, right? RIGHT?
We’re crossing every available finger and everything else we’ve got hoping that this is indeed the case, and Sony are reportedly hoping that it will happen.
Sony is evidently pretty serious about the future of Ghostbusters – so much so that they’ve created a new production company, Ghostcorps, to oversee future films, TV shows and merchandise.
Ivan Reitman, director of the original ’80s film, is the head of Ghostcorps. Of the upcoming Wiig-McCarthy film, he says he sees it as “just the beginning of what I hope will be a lot of wonderful movies.”
