Oof... We’ve got some bad news for you if you are one of those people who REALLY do not like gender reversals in the reboots of iconic 80s films!
As you may or may not be aware, those big bad Hollywood moguls are remaking the movie that every young’un in 90s adored: ‘Splash’.
Daryl Hannah is a mermaid and save Tom Hanks from drowning as a child, then returns 20 years later and makes him decide if he wants life on Earth or to live under the sea with her! God, what a dream of a movie.
Now, they’ve announced that the reboot will follow in the steps of the new ‘Ghostbusters‘, and it seems as though the characters’ genders will be reversed.
And we are BEYOND THRILLED to tell you that Daryl Hannah‘s OG character will be played by none other than Channing Tatum, and Tom Hanks‘ character will be played by Jillian Bell.
The pair have worked together before, in ’22 Jump Street’. The film will be produced by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer.
No word yet on when the film will be released. But we will tell you as soon as we know, because HOT DAMN are we keen for Mer-Channing.
