Cate Blanchett Returns To Television As An Alcoholic Meth Addicted Lesbian Lawyer

After a fifteen-year absence, Cate Blanchett will make her return to the not-so silver screen as a lesbian lawyer with a recreational list that includes alcohol and meth.

Don’t worry guys, we’re excited too.

The role is for an upcoming episode of the ABC drama series Rake,
starring Richard Roxburgh as the ethically questionable lawyer Cleaver Greene. Cate will
play the lesbian version of the character, and will presumably do just
as much drinking, smoking and flirting.

The two were co-stars in
the 1997 film Thank God He Met Lizzie, and Roxburgh called in a ‘favour’
to get the Oscar nominated actress on board. “I don’t think Cate’s done
television in 15 years … maybe the last thing was Paradise Road. We were very privileged and it was really great when she decided to come and do that for us.”

Meanwhile, the US version of Rake starring Greg Kinnear isn’t doing crash hot, with Deadline reporting “There is no way to sugarcoat this – Fox’s Rake is in big trouble” after it fell heavily in ratings.

Unfortunately,
Cate’s role will only last for one episode, but in the crazy world of
television you never know. After all, they’re giving this guy his own TV
show now, right?
