Cate Blanchett To Play Breast Cancer Survivor, Vixen In New HBO Project

Flawless alabaster unicorn Cate Blanchett is teaming up with haute television network HBO to executive produce and star in ‘Cancer Vixen: A True Story,’ a made-for-television film adapted from the novel of the same name by Marisa Acocella Marchetto, cartoonist for The New Yorker, Modern Bride and breast cancer survivor.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, La Blanchett has signed on to produce and lead the surefire tearjerker detailing Acocella’s 11-month battle with cancer while planning her wedding, and will work opposite a team whose production credits include Girl Most Likely and The Bell Jar.
Blanchett has also recently confirmed her role as the wicked stepmother in a live-action remake of Cinderella directed by Kenneth Brannagh and will soon star opposite Shetland Blanchett Mia Wasikowska in sapphic love story Carol.
To give you an idea of Acocella Marchetto’s oeuvre, here are two of her cartoons; one from either end of the spectrum that an HBO film starring Cate Blanchett as a high-profile New Yorker battling cancer is likely to encompass.
