BYE STARS HOLLOW: Alexis Bledel Has Joined Cast Of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’

Good news for fans of dystopian feminist literature AND Gilmore Girls: Alexis Bledel is part of the case of the Hulu adaptation of Margaret Atwood‘s famous novel The Handmaid’s Tale. Bledel plays Olfglen, one of the women who is forcibly impregnated by society’s patriarchal upper class.

Fun! For clarification, it’s set in the futuristic – but also kinda medieval – world where women’s rights are a thing of the past and women are forced into sexual and reproductive servitude for rich families.
Production of the show actually happened in late 2016, but Bledel’s commitment to Gilmore Girls meant that her involvement couldn’t be announced until now. She’ll appear in half of the episodes, apparently.
The show also stars Elizabeth Moss, who Bledel briefly guested opposite on Mad Men that time. You know, when she slept with Pete, who is also her real life husband.
The show premieres on Hulu on April 26. No word on how Aussies will wrap their eyes around it as yet.
