Okay, gotta put this out there right away: the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 3quel is not a hundo percent sure thing.
But there certainly is hope for those of us who to this day fantasise about finding a pair of jeans that will a) fit in all the right places, and b) also fit your main gal pals, which you will then share, no matter where you live in the world, because girls like to borrow clothes or whatever, and your bezzie mate lives a 24-hour flight away and that sucks, and the pants are a SYMBOL, people, for the unwavering power of friendship, and who doesn’t believe in the power of friendship and the power of movies that depict strong and realistic relationships between young women.
*takes deep breath*
Alexis Bledel was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday to talk about the new season of The Handmaid’s Tale, which she is also in, but actually ended up talking to raging fangirl Fallon about her role in two formative works from almost every 20-something woman’s adolescence, Gilmore Girls and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
“That is my jam!” cried Fallon, who is super excited about almost everything, when be brought up the seminal teen movie, and how much he “
LOVES” it. “Can there be another movie?”
So Bledel says, “I really hope so. I would love it. It would be the best thing.”
And then drops the BIG IMPORTANT NEWS that she and the gang have pitched a third movie:
“We don’t get to see each other a lot because of everybody’s work and family and everything, but when everybody’s in town we do [get together]. We just pitched a third movie and I hope it comes together, it’d be so great.”
Sounds promising.
Her STP co-star Amber Tamblyn took to Twitter to expand on Bledel’s news.
Sorry for that delay, my daughter needed me. Where was I? Oh yes. Alexis is right. We’ve been pitching and there is a script. A good one. It’s up to a studio now to make the film. So far, no luck. So keep your fingers crossed, or, knock down their doors with jeans emojis.
