‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Is Coming To Scare The Hell Out Of Aussie Audiences

In goddamn stupendous news for fans of vital television, SBS On Demand has announced it’s secured the rights to dystopian epic The Handmaid’s Tale.

Here’s a lil’ context for the uninitiated: the Hulu original series, based on the Margaret Atwood novel of the same name, has emerged into the world amid a veritable tonne of hype. The New York Times has praised its unapologetic take on a horrifically misogynistic society. Variety has praised the series’ equally lush and oppressive direction. And The Atlantic has singled out Elisabeth Moss’ take as Offred, one of the Handmaids forced to bear children for a distinctly male ruling class.

When the 10-part event arrives on Thursday July 6, expect to catch Samira Wiley, Joseph Fiennes, and Alexis Bledel chuck on some absolutely powerhouse performances.
