Buy Your Way To The Australian Academy Awards

In step one of Operation: Take This Shit Seriously, the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTAs for short) adopted principles from both the Academy Awards and BAFTAs in a much ballyhooed rebrand lead by inaugural AACTA President Geoffrey Rush. Changes involved new dates to coincide with the international awards season, an acoustically sound venue (The Opera House) and an abstract new gong designed by sculptor Ron Gomboc. One principle they haven’t embraced though, is the separation of plebs and famous people with a small allocation of tickets made available for purchase today.

$235 nets you tickets to the AACTA Awards Luncheon, $150 to the the ceremony itself and $295 to both the ceremony and official after party. A pittance for the possibility of getting your photo taken with Joel Edgerton’s elbow. Purchase tickets here. Check out the nominees here.
