Which Film Is Peak Adam Sandler, ‘Happy Gilmore’ Or ‘Billy Madison’?

There’s always going to be something that divides us as people. Like whether it’s a ‘scallop’ or a ‘potato cake’ or a ‘potato fritter’, whether it’s ‘devon’ or ‘fritz’, or if you take an ‘early mark’ or an ‘early minute’. These age-old differences will rear their heads once every so often, sparking heated debates and doing nothing much beyond further proving that people from South Australia are really fucking weird.

But my friends, we gather here today to try and find the answer to one of the biggest quandaries of modern history: which mid-90s Adam Sandler film is the best one? Is it Billy Madison or is it Happy Gilmore?

Despite being released merely a year apart in 1995 and 1996, everyone will have an opinion on which one rules harder. Some say the shampoo, and others swear by the conditioner.

Now some may be more fond of the slapshot, anger-management-bound ex-hockey player Happy Gilmore, while others may swear black and blue that heavy-lisped, loveable 27-year-old high-school dumbass Billy Madison is the be-all and end-all of Sandler’s best work. Some might even suggest that they’re actually the same person, just 10ish years apart which, considering the juvenile idiocy of both characters, probably isn’t far from the truth.

Is The Waterboy‘s Bobby Boucher Jr. just the same character, but in college? Is this all canon in the Sandlerverse? Probably.

But the main thing we want to know here is: which one is the best of the two? Which deserves our undying love and affection, and to be quoted for the rest of our days when the 90s seems like a lifetime ago and our kids have no fucking idea what we’re on about?

PEDESTRIAN.TV is trying in earnest to answer the question, effectively settling all the arguments that are held over beers at parties, but we kinda need your help. We’re finally leaning into that whole ‘.TV’ bit of our name and bringing the best iconic films to 9Go! every Wednesday night over summer on Big Flick Energy hosted by Nina Oyama. Ultimately, the decision of what gets played is in your hands, and this week it’s two of Adam Sandler’s best – and most quoted – films.

Is it the ’95 classic, Billy Madison, that has one of the funniest quotes of our generation in it, or is it the iconic ’96 flick, Happy Gilmore, that very likely had golf club groundskeepers across the world furiously shaking their fists about all the fresh divots at every tee?

So get chuck your vote in the comments over HERE for which film is less likely to be the piece of shit that Shooter McGavin eats for breakfast, and we’ll put the winner up on TV for your viewing pleasure on Wednesday night at 9pm.

Not only that but we’re gonna give one very lucky punter the trip of a god-damn lifetime to the Maldives to get maxo-relaxo at Kandima Maldives, where I can assure you there will be no jilted crocodiles wanting to take your hand off at the wrist.
