We are so close to the end of The Bachelor. So close. I can taste the freedom, a short-lived freedom before The Bachelorette inevitably melts my brain, but freedom nonetheless. So I’m going to celebrate the end with a beautiful Bachie theory about who Matt Agnew‘s going to choose.

The Bachie theory in question: The middle person in the top three pictures are always the winner. And at first I didn’t believe it until I looked at the evidence. And oh, okay. Georgia Love picked and is now engaged to Lee Elliott, Sam Frost chose Sasha Mielczarek but they’re no longer together, Sophie Monk ended up with Stu Laundy but called it quits pretty soon afterwards, and Richie Strahan broke our hearts and chose Alex Nation.
In this year’s final three photo, Chelsie McLeod is standing in the middle between Helena Sauzier and Abbie Chatfield. She is undoubtedly the fave going into the finals.

And despite this collage, Georgia and Lee aren’t our only successful Bachie couple. There’s also Matty J and Laura Byrne, Sam Wood and Snez Markoski, and Ali Oetjen and Taite Radley.
Anywho, after hometowns I think we all know Helena’s on the out. Abbie has far more chemistry with him than Helena does and Chelsie is the front runner. But I could be wrong, we’ll find out tonight.
Front runner aside, there’s a wild rumour getting about that Matt pulled a Blake Garvey and dumped Chelsie for Abbie after filming. On Monday, New Idea ran a piece strongly suggesting this with the help of a couple of ~sources~. The article didn’t even mention Helena. Rough.
“Since the finale, everyone has heard there’s been problem after problem – they [Matt and Chelsie] were just not seeing eye-to-eye on anything and didn’t have any chemistry,” the on-set insider said. “Once the cameras stopped rolling, the sparkle just wore off.”
This all started last month when Matt was quizzed on the Kyle and Jackie O Show about pulling a Blake Garvey. By the way, Pulling A Blake Garvey is what Blake Garvey did when he chose Sam Frost at the end of his season only to dump her five weeks later for the runner-up Louise Pillidge.
“No… what’s the… I have heard whispers of this? Matt told Kyle and Jackie O. “Do you have any more details of this?”
The show’s executive producer Sonja explained, “It’s because you said on Have You Been Paying Attention, ‘I picked a girl from the show’. You didn’t specify it’s the one from the end that you pick.”
But Matt said he just likes to be “suitably vague” about his ~journey~ on Bachie.
“I like to keep the audience guessing, it would be boring if it was too easy wouldn’t it?”
The Bachelor finale kicks off tonight 7.30pm on Channel 10.
