We Just Found Out What 3000 Means In ‘Endgame’ & Fuck, Here Come The Waterworks

Look, I’m assuming that the vast majority of y’all will have seen Avengers: Endgame by now and therefore a spoiler warning is not necessary but for the slow pokes who are yet to watch the greatest film of all time, this isn’t a spoiler, per se, more so a cute lil tidbit from the film.

In the movie, Tony Stark / Iron Man’s daughter Morgan (oh whoops, maybe that was a spoiler… ah well) says to him, “I love you 3000.”

This becomes an ongoing sentiment in the film as Tony later says this back to her.

Trust me, it’s tear-inducing stuff.

Welp, we should have known better than to assume that 3000 was just a random number that the all-powerful Marvel writers pulled out of the air as punters have just realised the hidden meaning behind the quote.

Eagle-eyed fans have added up the total running time of all 23 films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, from Iron Man all the way to Avengers: Endgame, and the total length would be one day, 23 hours, and 48 minutes. Converted into minutes (there are 1,440 minutes in 24 hours), that equals to 2,868.

So then if you add the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home, the total is 2,998 minutes, just two numbers away from, you guessed it, 3000.

Marvel has not confirmed or denied the theory but this is possibly because they don’t want to spoil the Endgame.

But I’ve gotta say, the fans make a pretty damn good case!

Shoutout to Marvel for making our lives worth living for 3,000 minutes.

We love you 3000 <3
