Meet The Aussie Slashie Who Caught The Attention Of Elton John’s Manager

Holly White

You might not know her name just yet, but musician slash actress Holly White is gonna get ya one way or another.

At just 18 years old, Holly has already featured in Home and Away, set up residence in both Los Angeles and Sydney and has an upcoming EP to be released soon.

To put that into perspective, at 18 I was just figuring out that if you drink too much you will lose your shoe and hitchhike home in the back of a questionable van. So I mean, I guess we’re kinda on the same life trajectory, no?

PEDESTRIAN.TV chatted to Holly about her time on H&A, her EP and life as a bloody ballin’ 18-year-old in general.

Appearing in an ep of Home and Away, the classic Aussie cult show that even my brother admits to watching religiously, Holly admits that her first day resulted in quite the awks convo: “Silly me ended up asking one of the all-timers how long they had been on the show for – oops!”

Happens to the best of us, m8. However, it’d be hard to sweat the small stuff when you’ve copped a compliment and received pearls of wisdom from the Elton John‘s manager, Steve Brown, who stumbled upon Holly in a school talent show.

He taught me a lot and spent time teaching me the foundations of lyrics, piano and inspired me to feel what I was singing when performing,” Holly recounts.

This year when I wrote all my own songs for my EP, I wished Steve was still around to critique my work – sadly he passed away early this year – but I know he’s giving me the thumbs up from above!”

Holly’s in the process of finalising her first EP for an upcoming release and describes her sound as “pop, with an R’n’B/soul twist“.

“I had an old song aired on radio in Malta and a lady who was receiving chemotherapy was listening to my music and called the radio station just to tell them it made her smile and how lovely the song was. To know my music made her feel amazing for a few minutes was the best feeling ever.”

If that didn’t make your heart swell, Holly also serves as inspo for all the youngsters starting out in the music or acting biz:

“Singing/music and acting are like two separate babies to me, I love them both in their own separate ways. I’m at the beginning of my career and excited about both paths and where the road may lead. I trust that the process will happen in the right way and believe everything will fall into place at the right time.”

Ahhh, to be young and not a cynical piece of shit. Go you good thing.
