The Ashley Madison hack has dominated the news cycle for the past few days, as the internet jumps on celebrities and semi-celebrities caught up the data breach, and the hackers behind it keep teasing at more information to come.
The hackers recently released a 13 GB file of emails that they claim are to and from Avid Life Media CEO Noel Biderman – you may recall that he appeared on an episode of Inside Amy Schumer earlier this year.
In a recent interview with Vice’s Motherboard, they said that they have a lot more stolen data, but out of decency (or something) have decided not to release any pictures from the hack, which, as you might expect, include a large number of male genitals.
They said that they currently have:
300GB of employee emails and docs from internal network. Tens of thousands of Ashley Madison user pictures. Some Ashley Madison user chats and messages. 1/3 of pictures are dick pictures and we won’t dump. Not dumping most employee emails either. Maybe other executives.
Soooooo …. there you have it? The Ashley Madison hackers apparently draw the line at your stolen dick pics, which is nice of them.
The hackers also opened up about one of the reasons they targeted Ashley Madison, claiming that the cheat-on-your-spouse site makes “[$]100,000,000 in fraud a year” and stores users’ credit card information, even though it claims not to.
They also claim that “any hacking team” could have exposed the vulnerabilities, and say that this hack is a warning to other companies and even individuals who profit from exploitation. They said that in future, their targets will be:
Not just sites. Any companies that make 100s of millions profiting off pain of others, secrets, and lies. Maybe corrupt politicians. If we do, it will be a long time, but it will be total.
Fitzy and Wippa made international headlines this week when they told a caller live on air that her husband’s email address was connected with an Ashley Madison account.
