Arrested Development Season 5 Will Hit Netflix Sometime Next Year

Thanks to the dynamic duo that is digital streaming services and rabid niche audiences, Arrested Development leads the charge of a new breed of shows whose extended lifespan clings on for dear life.

The unprecedented success of the show’s fourth season arguably put Netflix on the map as a serious heavyweight of content creation, and quickly confirmed that that would not be the last we saw of the Bluth family.
Producer Brian Grazer today confirmed that season five is an absolute go, and will more than likely hit streaming screens at around the mid-point of next year at the absolute latest – barring any unforeseen production disasters, of course.
Grazer appeared on The Adam Carolla Show podcast and revealed the news.

“Netflix is determined to do more episodes, so we’re going to do more episodes.”

Production on season 5 is scheduled to begin on January 1st. Grazer said fans can expect to see the new season “four months after that.”

Netflix has ordered seventeen new episodes of the show, that will likely move back to a slightly more traditional format, rather than the character-based looping structure of season four.
