Did Ariana Grande Just Come Out As Bi Or Is She Back On Her Queer-Baiting BS?

ariana grande

Ah man, I’m trying my best to be a loyal Ariana Grande stan but as a member of the queer community, she’s not making it easy for me.

The singer has been called out for queer-baiting (once again…) via the lyrics of her latest track, ‘Monopoly’.

In the song, Ari sings:

“I like women and men (Yeah)
Work so fuckin’ much, need a twinny, twin, twin (Hey)
You’d be straight for life if I gave you my PIN (Yeah)
Even though we gave up that 90% for the win, go”

Like, this kind of shit went by unscathed back in the Katy Perry ‘I Kissed A Girl’ days but it’s 2019 and musicians need to be more socially responsible, especially ones with a huge LGBTQIA+ fan base as well as impressionable youngsters listening to their music.

The release of the song was met with loads of curious fans asking Grande to confirm whether or not her song was an announcement of her sexuality.

But if it’s just a jokey song lyric and Grande isn’t bi, she’s gonna have a lot of angry fans on her hands as Arianators have already pointed out that they’ll unstan if it turns out she’s queer-baiting.

I mean, who knows! Maybe she really is bi-sexual and this is her way of casually dropping the announcement.

But the problem is that she has been accused of queer-baiting in the past.

The pop star was criticised for her recent music video for ‘Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored’.

The vid follows Grande as she flirts with another girl’s boyfriend, played by model Ariel Yasmine and Riverdale actor Charles Melton.

Throughout the video, Grande flirts with the girlfriend and ends up ditching Melton’s character to be with the chick, which scored negative reviews from fans who slammed the vid for its queer-baity vibes.

Grande has a history of insinuating that she’s into girls

Also back in February, Grande copped backlash after announcing that she’d headline Manchester Pride, and then allowing the ticket prices to sky rocket as a result.

Many people claimed she was “exploiting the community” and that it was wrong for a cis woman who identifies as straight to get the top spot at Pride.

Ariana responded in a note she posted to Twitter:

At the end of the day, Ariana’s sexuality is nobody’s business but her own but like, don’t sing about being into girls if you’re not.

That shit won’t fly anymore, sis.
