Andy Lee Revealed A Super Awkward Tactic Celebrities Use To Pick Up

There’s nothing more fascinating that finding out how the specific machinations of celebrity dating actually work. We know that they’re alien beings who don’t interact with one another in quite the same way that normal humans do. How do they do matchmaking? Do they emit some kind of celeb pheromone scent? Do they have weird rituals with their hair like the blue cat people in Avatar?

In an interview with Hit 106.9‘s Nick & Sophie, funnyman Andy Lee revealed one particular dating technique completely inaccessible to us regular proles. Basically, some stars try to organise a date through both parties’ respective publicists and managers, like its a bloody Jane Austen novel.
“I’ve had it happen a few times and it’s a strange thing,” he told the radio hosts.
“I won’t say who, but my manager rang me one day and said, ‘How about this?’ and I was like, ‘Nah, we’re not doing this’. It’s all a bit weird.”

Hmmm, yes. Wondering if it’s possible to organise a root via respective managers, as if it were some kind of high-level networking event.
Other celebrities have spoken out about this particular ritual in the past. Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Brooklyn Decker told HBO‘s Real Sports that she was a bit weirded out when tennis star Andy Roddick contacted her manager via his own.
I mean, it’s — it’s a little weird. So I’m like, ‘No, that’s — no thank you. Like, if we can meet, he can come up to me and ask for my number. But it’s not gonna be through his agent.’ So five months goes by. My agent showed me a press conference [featuring Andy Roddick] from the Aussie Open in ’07 … And I was like, ‘This guy is pretty funny.’ He came to New York for our first date. And we’ve been together ever since.

So they’re married. I guess, in the long run, it works.
