Adam Green Recruits Culkin, Banhart and Doherty For Film (NSFW)

You may recognise him as one-half of defunct ‘anti-folk’ duo Moldy Peaches. A few solo albums and an art exhibition later, indie polymath Adam Green has made his cinematic debut in a 70-minute feature film titled The Wrong Ferrari – shot entirely on an iPhone.

Featuring a handful of Green’s actor/musician friends, the cast includes Macaulay Culkin, Jack Dishel, Alia Shawkat, Devendra Banhart, Sky Ferreira, Cory Kennedy, Jeffrey Lewis, and Pete Doherty.

The film, dubbed ‘a screwball tragedy’, follows a band’s surreal adventure as they’re transported into the fantastical world of Super Mario, apparently aided by their ketamine-induced state.

Green says the movie, which he shot while on tour, is about “turning 30 and the concerns that come with that. Entering the next phase of life, whatever that may entail; that’s the simplest idea I was trying to communicate.”

He also says: “I was on a lot of ketamine at the time. It’s really impossible to separate the ketamine from this movie. It’s a ketamine classic.”

You can watch the film in it’s entirety here. Obviously if you have qualms about closely observing the hallucinogenic effects of drugs or are prone to wince at the sight of a penis (Green’s own make an appearance), then we suggest you sit this one out.

If the low budget, high highness concept sounds like your vibe Green suggests you “download it, put it on the TV and turn off the lights. It’s not a fucking YouTube clip. Watch it like a movie.”

Or, lie in bed hugging seven friends under a patchwork blanket if you want to watch it like a ketamine classic.
