Adam Devine Reveals His ‘Pitch Perfect’ Audition Went Wildly Off The Rails

Adam Devine

Outside of Workaholics, Adam Devine is best known for playing the obnoxious a cappella bro Bumper in the Pitch Perfect movies. As he recently revealed to James Corden, however, he very nearly blew his audition for the role in a big way.

During a recent appearance on The Late Late Show, the actor revealed that he showed up to read for the part with no idea what he was doing. “I actually didn’t know that it was a singing movie,” he told the host. “I thought it was a baseball movie, I swear to God I did, I honestly did.”

“I showed up and there ware all these, like, handsome dudes there, and they’re not stretching. I’m over there stretching and I’m like you’re gonna pull something, idiot!” Devine continued. “I read the sides and I’m like, there’s a lot of singing in this baseball movie, then I realise what it is.”

From there he went into the audition room and winged it, and we’ll go ahead and let him tell the rest:

Adam Devine can currently be seen in The Righteous Gemstones, and is working on an animated series, The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, with Blake Anderson.
