The MTV Movie Awards are actually a welcome palate-cleanser to close out the otherwise ‘serious’ awards season. While it was great to watch Chris Rock wail on racial inequality before Spotlight took out the Oscars gong for Best Picture, oh boy it is nice to see hammy macking-on receive the respect it so clearly deserves.
This time around, our own Rebel Wilson and we-wish-he-was-our-own Adam DeVine took out the prestigious honour for their lip-locking on Pitch Perfect 2. Reminder:
Juicy.
Elsewhere, it was a big night for Parks & Rec alums Amy Poehler and Chris Pratt, who took out Best Animated Performance (Inside Out) and Best Action Performance (Jurassic World), respectively. Though we wouldn’t be mad if those roles were reversed.
Leonardo Dicaprio also received his career’s highest honour for his grunty-yelly turn in The Revenant, although his fight with the bear didn’t quite make it as the year’s top smackdown. That one, of course, went to the very stabby bout between Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool and Ed Skrein’s Francis Ajax.
New Fast 8 baddie Charlize Theron did well for herself too, getting the nod for Best Female Performance as Imperator Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road; Daisy Ridley also claimed the title for best newcomer in Star Wars: The Force Awakens which went on to win Movie Of The Year. Hell fucken’ yeah.
