Abbie Chatfield Got Turnt At The I’m A Celeb Finale Afterparty Like The Winning Queen She Is

Abbie Chatfield celebrates I'm A Celebrity win

Am I the only one who got a little bit teary watching the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! finale? (Caveat: I am a big crybaby.) And not only because watching Abbie Chatfield win the crown after being, in her own words, “dumped on TV three times now” was so satisfying.

But also because of the moment beforehand when Abbie and runner-up Grant Denyer were waiting, and they started to whisper to each other what looked like, “Love you,” “Love you more,” and Grant seemed to assure Abbie, “You’ve got this.”

I am so MOVED.

But, based off pics from the afterparty uncovered by News.com.au, it  seems like the gracious loser quietly celebrated being back in civilisation as the rest of the cast knocked back a few bevs.

Abbie Chatfield was photographed slut-dropping with her crown, while Grant Denyer looked almost morose and wasn’t seen celebrating with his co-stars.

Grant’s absence may be easily explained though: he’s not only a 43-year-old man with two kids, but he realised on the show that he had a problematic relationship with booze and decided to give it up after he got out of the jungle.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Grant said that that he wants to try to give up alcohol this year.

“I am super worried why that scares me so much, which probably tells me it is something I need to do,” he said.

“I need to stop, it is not improving my life, in fact it is doing the opposite.

He continued: “I am not an alcoholic, I am a three-night-a-week drinker, but it is the amounts that I need to look at and I am not getting anything out of it so that is going to be the new me in 2021.”

Last night, Abbie celebrated her win on Instagram.

“Crying in the toilets while writing this. I am so eternally grateful to everyone who voted for me and has supported me,” she began, before offering a few words to Grant.

“[I]t’s been an honour to know you and you were rooting for me down to the last minute. You’re an incredible man,” she wrote.

While Grant hasn’t posted since the finale, you can see more photos and video of after-show shenanigans on Abbie’s Instagram Stories, including plenty of slut-drops, and her quest to find Grant.

“Where is he?” she asks in the video from Jack Vidgen as she runs down the street. She captioned it on her own Stories: “Help me find grant Denyer!!!”

She also had a firm message for anyone criticising her win, sharing a photo of herself giving the camera the finger. “Twitter: Abbie didn’t deserve to win!!!!!

“But I did …. so?”

Abbie won the show after being bitten by a snake, disrespected by Ash Williams when he complained Alli Simpson was “more [his] type” and slut-shamed by Robert ‘Dipper’ DiPierdomenico.

She was previously the runner-up on The Bachelor in 2019 and was dropped by root-rat Ciarran Stott on the 2020 season of Bachelor In Paradise.

Her win raised $100K for Dementia Australia, a tribute to Abbie’s late grandmother, who passed away in 2020 after suffering from the illness.

Queen Of The Jungle Abbie Chatfield is appearing at our virtual self-love fest, Selfish Sessions, at the end of the month, talking about reality TV and media representation. Get your tix for just $20+BF HERE.
