There are few tunes from the early 2000s as iconic as Kelis‘s 2003 breakthrough hit, Milkshake. Don’t try to act like you didn’t hairbrush-karaoke the hell out of this track all through high school. And if you didn’t get it stuck in your head pretty much every time you scored a blended dairy beverage for the 18 months following its release, you’re probably a robot.
I mean, just listen to that ridiculous service-bell hook!
*ding*
Of course, the mystery was always what exactly Kelis’s milkshake was. She says in the tune that she could teach you how to make it, but she’d have to charge. Disappointing for everyone who was frothing on the boys in that video (hi).
But that was Kelis in 2003! Kelis in 2017 is a whole lot more generous, and, it turns out, one helluva cook. In fact, she trained at ritzy French culinary school Cordon Bleu, and even released a cook book called My Life On A Plate back in 2015.
So it’s safe to say that her actual milkshake recipe, for which she’s teamed up with Baileys in order to celebrate Chocolate Milkshake Day (!) on September 12, is gonna be pretty damn good. Good enough to bring ALL the boys to your yard?
Probably.
Watch the video here, and follow these steps to perfecting your own boy-luring early-00s frothy dairy delight.
