Bimbo Deluxe Is Rising From Its Own Ashes & Reopening Next Week

Fear not for your wallets any longer, deeply-loved and much-missed Melbourne institution Bimbo Deluxe is making its mighty return, just shy of a year since a huge fire ripped through the Fitzroy pub.

Rising like a kewpie-doll-shaped phoenix full of cheap pizzy and just-as-cheap piss, the beloved inner-north pub is officially dropping the ‘Deluxe’ and going by ‘Bimbo‘ now. Kinda like Madonna and Rihanna. It’s sleek, it’s farshionable, it’s still probably going to be the place you end up after a long night on the turps.

Due to throw open the doors at 376 Brunswick St on May 22, the last year has seen the whole venue get a serious makeover, and will feature huge murals on the walls from local artists like Filthy Ratbag and Elliot Routledge, and special pockets of art from LA-based artist, Kristen Liu Wong.

Bimbo’s big bossman Lawrence Dowd has said that with the revamp and return of Bimbo, it was a great chance to make the venue’s vibe a little more ~adult~ but still maintaining the classic Bimbo ethos.

Melburnians carry a real torch for Bimbo so the heart and soul of the venue will never change, however, we definitely wanted a more mature vibe as we move into the next chapter. This started with dropping Deluxe from the name, while ongoing transformations will continue to see the venue evolve.

As well as the blessed cheap pizzys, Bimbo 2.0 will kick off a new menu of yums and a permanent roster of weekly events like acoustic nights, trivia Wednesdays, and a brand new club night, Queer Deluxe, kicking off in June.

So get the group chat in sync, pool all your coins together, and get ’em locked in for a post-work beer, because there’s cheap pizza and late-night mischeif ready and waiting for you at the renewed Bimbo as of Wednesday May 22.
