Former PM Malcolm Turnbull Formally Resigns From Parliament So That’s That

Former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has formally resigned his seat, after announcing he’d do so last week, following the great dumpster trash #LibSpill of 2018.

With his resignation in writing handed to Speaker Tony Smith, Turnbull leaves empty the NSW blue-ribbon electorate of Wentworth – a seat he had held for about 14 years.

The Wentworth by-election is expected to take place in October.

Talking to reporters in Jakarta on Friday, Australia’s new Prime Minister Scott Morrison said of his “dear and close friend”:

“He’ll be well remembered I believe over time as a prime minister who delivered some very big things for Australia.”

Per Nine News, Morrison counted the Snowy Hydro 2.0 scheme and the Western Sydney Airport as Turnbull’s greatest achievements.

The PM went on to say that ol’ mate Turnbull retiring meant he’d finally escape the “madness of politics.”

“You deserve that mate, you absolutely deserve that. You’ve served our country well, and on behalf of our country as prime minister, I just want to say thanks.”

Well, there you bloody go.
