Yesterday, Waleed Aly‘s explainer on how we can defeat ISIL went absolutely gangbusters.

“They want you to fear them,” Waleed said. “They want you to get angry. They want all of us to become hostile, and here is why – ISIL’s strategy is to split the world into two camps. It is that black and white. Again, we know this because they told us.”

100% NAILED IT.

The data is now coming in on just how far reaching Waleed Aly’s piece was – spoiler: it’s fukken far.

Twitter told PEDESTRIAN.TV that there were a whopping 39k tweets about Waleed Aly from Nov 16-Nov 17, hitting their peak at 140 per minute. There were 370k impressions (views) of Tweets in total, a 130% higher than the previous Monday’s episode. Based on impressions, it was The Project’s biggest show of the year.

Google told P.TV that in the six hour period between 4:30pm and 10:3pm last night, Waleed Aly’s name was searched 100% more than the same time period the previous day.

And media intelligence company Meltwater told P.TV that there were a total of 8,840 conversations about old mate Waleed between 16-17 November.

24.8% of those conversations were positive, 56.7% were neutral, and an unfortunate 18.4% were negative, of which we’d put money on 100% of them being fans of Andrew Bolt.

BTW here’s a fancy-as-fuck data snapshot of how the convo went down on Twitter:

And here’s where (in the world) those conversations were taking place:

Go Waleed, you bloody legend. You knocked this one for six.
