SA’s Equally Rare & Stinky ‘Corpse Flower’ Set To Bloom After 10 Years

Do you like flowers, but just cannot stand how sweet they smell? Does the phrase “stop and smell the roses” drive you to seething rage?

If so, you’re in luck! One of the world’s worst smelling plants is set to bloom in a matter of days in S.A’s Mount Lofty Botanical Gardens, and they’re swinging their gates wide open to assault your olfactory senses with the Corpse Flower’s tender, fleshy scents.

Before we get any further in discussing the amorphophallus titanum, let’s quickly dissect that name:

Righto. So the plant is basically an undefined mass, but what’s the closest analogue in terms of its appearance?
WELL WE TOOK THAT ONE TO 11, DIDN’T WE?
So it’s vaguely willy-shaped. Any other descriptions botanists saw fit to tack on?

If we’re reading this right, science calls one of the worst-smelling plants on the planet the giant, shapeless, god-like dick-flower. That’s so metal.

ANYWAY…

Experts reckon the thing, which hasn’t opened up in a decade, will finally bloom for two days within the next week. It’s an endangered species in the wild, and this is widely believed to be the first time it’s bloomed in S.A, making this whole thing quite a big deal.

If you’re into massive, stinky penis-petals, that is.
