Thieves With Gun & Machete Commit $150k Daylight Heist Of Melbs Jeweller

In what’s being described as a brazen daylight robbery, a group of three armed bandits have stolen jewellery from a south-east Melbourne store.
CCTV footage shows the men, faces covered with shirts and armed with a handgun, machete and hammer, robbing H&H Jewellery on Glen Huntly Road at Elsternwick, a little after 1:30pm today.

The men threatened staff members before breaking cabinets, stealing roughly $150,000 worth of jewellery, and escaping in a fourth member’s getaway vehicle, which did not have registration plates.
Police say the four men were of Sudanese appearance, and were later spotted on Gardenia Road in Gardenvale.
In describing the incident, Acting Detective Sergeant Nathan Toey called the robbery “brazen” for happening during daylight hours in a busy shopping area.
The hold-up comes at a complex period for youth crime in Melbourne’s south-east, with many (but as police stress, not all) of last year’s Moomba festival rioters belonging to Dandenong’s infamous Apex gang.
Luckily, no one hurts during today’s break-in.
