Teenager Who Supplied Fatal Pills To Friend Georgina Bartter Gets Good Behaviour Bond

The case following the tragic death of 19-year-old Sydney woman Georgina Bartter at Harbourlife in November last year, collapsing from an adverse reaction after taking ecstasy pills supplied by her best friend Rebecca Hannibal, has come to a close today.

Rebecca Hannibal was charged with supplying Bartter the fatal pills in February this year and pleaded guilty to the charge in April; today, Hannibal has received a 12 month good behaviour bond for the offence. She will not serve time in prison for the offence.

According to the ABC, Judge Graeme Henson, who handed down Hannibal’s sentencing, laid blame on those who sold the pills to Hannibal prior to the festival. “Two young women, close friends, go to a music festival, they make a foolish decision, only one comes home,” Henson said. “The real evil in this case is not present in this room…They close their minds to the reality they may be selling a death sentence.”

ABC reports that Matthew Forti, who sold the drugs to Rebecca Hannibal, will be facing a sentence later this year.

Bartter’s reaction to the pills supplied to her on November 8, leading to her death, has been pitted as being a “1 in 10 million” chance.
