Matthew Forti Jailed For 12 Months For Selling Georgina Bartter Fatal Pills

In the Downing Street District Court today, Matthew Forti was sentenced to at least 12 months in jail, after selling MDMA to Rebecca Hannibal, Georgina Bartter‘s close friend. Bartter took 1 and a half of the ecstasy pills at Sydney festival Harbour Life, and subsequently passed away from cardiac arrest in St. Vincent’s Hospital.

Judge Deborah Sweeney sentenced Forti to at least 12, maximum 22 months in jail for three counts of supplying prohibited drugs (which includes the 4 MDMA tablets supplied to Hannibal).
Forti’s barrister, Garry Jauncey, had previously said that Forti had been honest and frank with police, and that his prospects of rehabilitation “are better than good”.
“[These factors] all point to a young man who this court is highly unlikely to see again in these circumstances or in any form of anti-social behaviour. This is not a young man that the community is going to benefit from being incarcerated.”
