Professional Awkward Human Michael Cera To Voice Robin In ‘Lego Batman’

In happy Friday news, professional awkward human Michael Cera is set to voice Robin in the ‘Lego Batman‘ film, the spinoff to the $468.7 million grossing 2014 film ‘The Lego Movie‘.

He’ll be the sidekick to Will Arnett’s Batman, who voiced the character in the original Lego movie.

It’s a safe bet – like a put your all-your-life-savings-into-it bet – the film will be the polar opposite of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, least of all because its cast is made up of plastic figurines but mostly because ‘Lego Batman’ is being co-written by Jason Segal (writer: Sex Tape; The Muppets; Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3).

A decent chunk of ‘The Lego Movie’ team is returning as producers / director, but sadly it’s Chris Pratt-less – aside from his character plain ol’ not being in the movie, he’s currently enjoying life as the most in-demand male actor in Hollywood.

‘Lego Batman’ is set for release in 2017, and shortly after that – in Hollywood terms, anyway – the sequel to the original, imaginatively titled ‘The Lego Movie 2‘, will be out in 2018.
