WATCH: Eric Bana & Ricky Gervais Fake It In ‘Special Correspondents’ Trailer

The revolution will be streamed, y’all. Netflix is continuing to flex their considerable muscle on the TV and film industries, squeezing their way further in to the market by upping the slate of original content.

And where once their domain was solely in original produced series, now they’re moving into the film biz.
Ricky Gervais and Eric Bana are the latest to make the jump to the red label, with their upcoming comedy film Special Correspondents scoring the “a Netflix original film” tag.
The film centres around Gervais and Bana as a pair of radio journalists who are sent to a warzone in Ecuador, but instead file fake reports from a New York apartment across the road from their radio building.
The first trailer for the film hit the internets today, and (Bana’s really forced American accent aside) it actually looks fairly promising.

The film was directed and written by Gervais, based on the 2009 French film Envoyés très Spéciaux.
The absolutely stacked cast also features Benjamin Bratt, America Ferrera, Kevin Pollack, and the one-two punch of absolute glory that is Vera Farmiga and Kelly Macdonald.
It’s scheduled to hit Netflix worldwide on April 29th, following an appearance at the Tribeca Film Festival the week prior.
