Neil Patrick Harris is arguably the best human being on the planet right now. Seriously. It’s not that he can do no wrong, it’s just that everything he does just so happens to be right. Whether it’s poking fun at himself and sparking the career revival to end all career revivals in the Harold & Kumar movies, or nailing nine seasons of effortless comedy on How I Met Your Mother, or smashing everything out of the park in his return to the stage for the Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The man is certifiably killing it.
Even when he dives into the usually naff world of autobiographies he’s somehow found a way to make that the most awesome thing ever, by forgoing the usual linear drudgery of a straightforward recounting of his life, and instead penning the tale of NPH via the majesty of a Choose Your Own Adventure book.
The book – Neil Patrick Harris’s Choose Your Own Autobiography – comes out soon, and to promote it, NPH has released this teaser trailer. A visual trailer is usually a bit out-of-left-field for a book, but this is an absolute doozy.
In keeping with the Choose Your Own Adventure style, Harris does nine things simultaneously, and lets you choose which one to focus on – whether it be sucking helium and singing Camptown Races, or tossing back 15 shots of pure rubbing alcohol, or adorably re-enacting the famous spaghetti scene from Lady and the Tramp with his now husband David Burtka.
