A Bunch Of Queensland Getaways To Hit If You’re Gagging For A Break Before The Silly Season

We have two months left of the year, folks. Two. The silly season is nearly upon us and I am sitting here racking my brain for the best memories I’ve made so far this year…

If you’re in the same boat and really need to carpe diem the crap out of the rest of 2022, booking a holiday is the way to go. You’ll make a bunch of new memories, recharge your battery before the busiest time of the year and cop some sweet deals while you’re at it because it’s shoulder season, baby.

That’s right. Most folks save their holidays for the summer and winter breaks, or school holidays, so right now you can snap up some last-minute steals. Take advantage!

Today we’re looking into sunny Queensland. We’ve found a bunch of unique vaycays to really shake up the end of your year.

Cop a load of these…

A city escape

With its vibrant art and food scene, all of us fighting over Sydney and Melbourne are absolutely sleeping on Brisbane. To make the most of what Brissy has to offer, spend a weekend at a boujee boutique hotel like Ovolo The Valley and explore the new ‘Air’ exhibition at the GOMA. Keep the indulgence rolling with a decadent dinner at Italia Lane. There’s a brisket lasagne in a bowl that’s got our mouths watering from here…

A rainforest treehouse

Even writing these words has made me feel more relaxed. Different from your usual beach jaunt, try escaping to the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest for a weekend to stay in an eco-friendly treehouse. With uninterrupted views of the world’s oldest living rainforest, you’ll be able to switch off and soak up the scenery. Spend your time at the spa or exploring the Daintree River, Great Barrier Reef and Cape Tribulation.

Four-wheel freedom

For the adrenaline junkies, K’gari (Fraser Island) is your playground. With over 123kms of tracks on the sand island, you can 4WD ’till your heart’s content. There are also plenty of beachside camping spots along the coastline.

Sleep on a reef

That’s right, you can sleep overnight out on a pontoon. Not to be dramatic, but that’s a sunrise I’d actually kill to see. You can experience this bucket-list baby by hopping on a luxury catamaran at Bundaberg and heading out to Lady Musgrave Island. It’s a small island surrounded by a 3,000-acre reef lagoon that you can snorkel, swim and dive in ’till your heart’s content.

Has the desperation to go well and truly sunk in? Same here. The hardest bit will be picking which getaway is for you. But don’t twiddle your thumbs, go book now. Eenie-meenie-minee-mo it — you literally can’t go wrong.
