So What’s Gonna Happen With Brynne Edelsten’s SAS TV Comeback After Her Drug Charges?

Brynne Edelsten

Brynne Edelsten is one of those hyper niche Melbourne names that immediately tickles the nostalgia cogs for me. She was famously married to millionaire Geoffrey Edelsten years ago, and then she had her own reality TV show, and then she was on Dancing with the Stars, I think. At some point we all just stopped thinking about her… until the past weekend when Edelsten was arrested.

Last month, the reality TV star was announced as part of the upcoming season of SAS Australia, alongside celebrity chef Manu Feildel, tennis legend Alicia Molik, and singer Pete Murray.

There she is – top right.

I honestly wouldn’t have recognised her if her name wasn’t right there. And then when I did I had violent flashbacks to seeing her wedding on TV everywhere

SAS Australia will mark Edelsten’s return to primetime telly, unless those recent charges against her put an end to that.

The reality TV star was arrested on May 11 and is facing three charges relating to trafficking, possessing, and using crystal meth.

As first reported by the Herald Sun, Edelsten is also facing a fourth charge dealing with property suspected of being proceeds of crime (stolen or obtained via a criminal act).

“I am shocked and saddened by these events and will be vigorously fighting all charges,” Edelsten said in a statement to the newspaper over the weekend.

“I am very thankful for the support of the team around me and will not be making any further comment.”

Edelsten is due to face court on October 8.

There’s every chance Edelsten’s name could just quietly disappear from the SAS lineup – that’s not unheard of. But considering convicted drug smuggler Schapelle Corby was a SAS contestant last year, maybe Seven won’t bat an eye at the news.

In a statement provided to PEDESTRIAN.TV, the network – well, it didn’t say much, really.

“As this is a police matter, we cannot comment,” a spokesperson for Seven said.

The first season of SAS Australia didn’t premiere until October last year, so if Seven sticks to that schedule then it’ll be a couple of months until we find out if Edelsten has made the cut. Unless Seven announces something sooner, that is.

Either way, I think we can still expect to hear more about Edelsten when October comes around. She is due in court then.
