Lil BUB, The Borked Kitten Turned Instagram Star, Has Died At Age 8

I’m very sorry to bring you this news first thing on a Tuesday morning, but the internet-famous precious kit, Lil BUB, passed away overnight.

Lil BUB’s human, Mike Bridavsky, made the announcement through Lil BUB’s newsletter this week, after the wee kit had passed away peacefully in her sleep.

“On the morning of Sunday, December 1st 2019 we lost the purest, kindest and most magical living force on our planet,” Lil BUB’s dude wrote.

“I truly believe that she willingly made the decision to leave her failing body so that our family would not have to make that difficult decision ourselves.”

Lil BUB had been suffering from a pretty nasty bone infection in her twilight cat years, and after eight years of being adorably borked (and making a whole bunch of really famous friends), her nine lives finally wound up.

Look at her, look at that big goof face.

In her time on this wretched planet, Lil BUB became the face for heaps of things, including her own damn pet food, and won hearts across the world through her Instagram, despite growing up with several genetic deformities. She ended up with over two million (!!!) followers, and made friends with everyone from Seth Rogen to Kesha to Robert De Niro.

Just to really get your tear ducts goin’, check out this baby photo of BUB, who looks like she’s had someone straight-up stick googly eyes on her head.

I love it, I love her so much.

Lil BUB, the illegally cute internet celebrity cat now joins other famous felines like Grumpy Cat and Keyboard Cat, who have also crossed the rainbow bridge. I can only hope they’re all in some Cat Heaven chasing after an eternal laser pointer and scratching endless fields of fancy couches.

RIP to a real one, good job BUB.
