I am livid Gwendoline Christie did not win an Emmy for Supporting Actress, but I am willing to put that all aside – for a moment – in adoration of her gown.

I present Gwendoline Christie, Killer of Carpets.
GOD IS A WOMAN.
The red-and-white ensemble is part of Gucci’s 2020 collection, and is Jesus head-to-toe. Jesus or Roman Emperor. I did not know it was possible to shut down a carpet dressed as either but here we are. I also feel as if it the gown is 100% something Ser Brienne of Tarth would wear.
Naturally, the internet is bright and full of memes.
excuse me, do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior @lovegwendoline? #emmys pic.twitter.com/WbhND1BH4Z

Okay, now back to the actual awards ceremony. Julia Garner won Supporting Actress in a Drama series for Ozark, beating out four Game of Thrones stars – Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, and Christie. I have nothing against Garner… but bloody hell, it would’ve been just excellent if Christie won, considering she had to put herself up for an Emmy nomination. She literally forked out her own USD$225 for the self-entry, because it’s what Brienne deserves.
“I’ve fallen in love with what she represents… She has a strong moral compass and a very deep sensitivity and vulnerability, and I felt she was a special and rare kind of character,” Christie told People on the carpet.
“For everything she represents in terms of women, I wanted there to be the possibility of the opportunity,” she continued. “And for me to feel like that’s how I was honouring saying goodbye to this character.”
Christie, in all her regal glory, along with her co-stars received a standing ovation on the Emmy stage. Read more about that below.
