No, really. Did Emirates fake this? Did they not? Aren’t jetpacks still in that utterly miserable ‘look I flew 20 metres over my field while in the upright position’ phase?

Apparently not, according to Emirates, because they’re either pulled off the most elaborate hoax in history or they have literally invented jetpacks that can keep up with an A380.
BULL-FUCKING-SHIT.
THAT DID NOT JUST HAPPEN.
Emirates says the footage – which looks effortless AF – was way, way more complicated to film, and required precise coordination between the two daredevils Yves Rossy and Vince Reffet, the Emirate A380 passenger plane, and the helicopter.
The footage shows the plane + jetpacks doing an airborne tango at 1,200 meters and up to speeds of 193km/h.
“it was absolutely surreal flying alongside the biggest aircraft there is,” said Rossy, “and we felt like mosquitoes beside a gigantic eagle.”
Emirates even made a ‘here’s-how-we-did-it’ vid to silence all the naysayers – *cough* – calling it fake.
