My goddd we love a good cheap flight, don’t we? We absolutely froth over ’em. Get us outta this stinkhole of a town on the smell of an oily rag.
And Jetstar, the blessed lot that they are, have been coming to the cheap flights table time and time again this summer, slinging up bonkers sales practically week-in, week-out.
Wouldn’t you know it? They’ve gone and done it again. Not only are they launching brand new direct flight routes from Australia to Vietnam, but they’re celebrating it by flogging off flights so cheap you’ll still be able to afford wine in bottles this weekend, rather than resorting to goon.
The budget airliner is set to commence direct services to Ho Chi Minh City from both Sydney and Melbourne from May onwards, flying their new fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliner planes on the route which airline bosses hope will turn Vietnam into a go-to destination for Aussie tourists on par with Bali.
The first batch of flights goes on sale today, and Jetstar is marking the occasion with a 12-hour sale that’ll put your butt in an economy class seat for as little as $159 one-way.
Jetstar Group CEO Jayne Hrdlicka noted that the Vietnamese region tourism is growing at a rapid rate, and these new routes and fares are expected to contribute to that:
“Vietnam is well known for its rich culture, vibrant cities, beaches and cuisine, and travellers can take advantage of the wide range of experiences the region has to offer. We expect our low fares and direct flights will generate even more demand for holidays to Vietnam.”
“In the last 12 months, there has been a 21 per cent increase in visitors from Vietnam to Australia and we expect to see that increase with the introduction of our low fares on the route. The growing middle class in Vietnam has made it one of the fastest growing aviation markets in the world.”
Travellers can connect to 15 different destinations in Vietnam from Ho Chi Minh City via Jetstar Pacific. The new direct routes will see four weekly flights depart Sydney, and three per week leaving from Melbourne.
Flights commence May 10th, with the sale period covering select dates between May and October.
