VROOM: World’s Fastest Bike Saves The Planet But Will Probably Kill You

Aspiring organ donors the world across love OG petrol vehicles for good reason. The rumbling of ignition, hearing the cylinders fire as you kick up the revs – there’s just something carnal about getting around while powered by dead dinosaurs. But electric cars these days have turned that on their heads – Tesla‘s high powered Model S gives 100% of its power from the second you hit go, with a probably unnecessary top speed of 250 km/h. BMW‘s thrown its weight behind the luxury i8, and cheap hybrids are a dime a dozen.
But now batshit insane motorcyclists have a new deathtrap to carve up some esses with: The Lightning LS-218.
Putting out 200 horsepower the second you twist your wrist, it holds the world speed record for a production motorbike, and it looks downright mental. Normally you’d talk up how its engine performs, but this bike doesn’t have one. Instead, it’s got a 150kw electric motor (about 300 times more powerful than one you’d find in a blender, if that helps) that helps it hit 350 km/h in just a few seconds.
It’s not at home doing anything less than triple digits, so good luck riding this thing around Sydney’s streets. Check out this video of an experienced motorcyclist crashing it at like, 2 kilometers an hour:
Jeez, you can feel the speed from here.
If you’re looking to pick one up – good luck. They’re limited to a run of 150, with a price tag over $50,000.
