Red Dead Redemption was one of the most beloved games of the last generation, and for the past six years fans have been furiously awaiting even a dribble of info on a possible sequel. It’s long been an open secret in in the industry that it was absolutely being worked on, but gamers haven’t really gotten any official word.
Looks like that changes today. Dev Rockstar Games tweeted a very subtle, but also very clear reference to the series: their logo, faded, on a mottled red background. C’mon. Do they have to hold your hand through this, folks?

This simple image currently has over 79,000 retweets. The thirst is absolutely real. Rockstar has also changed their social media avatars and icons to this red-themed logo, so I’m thinking some kind of announcement is very much on the way.
People are going suitably wild:
The original game is massively influential – Jonathan Nolan even named it as a key influence on the current HBO series Westworld. Of course, before you get too arced up, you should probably keep in mind that this might just be a current-gen re-release of the original. Surely not, though right. Y’all wouldn’t play us like that, right?
