Nintendo Is Allegedly Upping Switch Production To Appease Pissed Customers

If you tried to get yourself a Nintendo Switch close to its launch in March this year, you’ll probably remember the clusterfuck surrounding its strangely low supply given to retailers.

In order to meet further consumer demand, the company are allegedly ramping up production of the new console. A lot.
According to The Wall Street Journal, they’ve been aiming to make at least 16 million of them this financial year alone, with a further 18 million planned between now and March 2018. That’s a shit-tonne of Switches.
The publication also mentions Nintendo’s fear of “customer tantrums” during the holiday season.

The folks over at the Financial Times say the gaming company has “denied that it had plans to boost production to that level, sticking to its official hardware shipment target of 10” million units. Analysts reckon they’re on track to make upwards of twice that amount.
Nintendo are no stranger to a good supply shortage, with the incredibly popular NES Classic experiencing a similar event upon its own release.
If they do plan on pumping up numbers, we damn well hope it doesn’t come at the cost of production problems, cough-LEFTJOYCON-cough.
