So it turns out Netflix has secret codes that you type into the search bar to find niche TV & movie genres like romantic foreign and vampire horror movies.
I first learnt about Netflix’s hidden genre codes through a viral Instagram reel called ‘Netflix codes you didn’t know about’, which included codes for sad movies, superheroes and Disney films. BUT I had to find more, and OOH boy there are so many.
A quick search of the net led me to a slightly dodgy website, but a very useful website nonetheless called Netflix Streaming by Alternate Genres.This website quite literally has hundreds of different options, and finding a niche hangover movie has never been so easy.
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I’m in a mood to watch a steamy romantic movie or a political drama on Netflix, but I can’t think of one on the top of my head. Looking up genres through helpful codes is a game-changer for my terrible memory recall.

The Netflix sub genres are so weirdly specific and I do wonder how many comedies starring Ben Stiller there could possibly be, but you know, each to their own.
