It seems like every day we have some news article about someone who caused a horrifying disaster because they had their nose glued in Pokémon Go catching their 900th Zubat. We’re keeping the trend going with today’s wonderful entry: some 19-year-old in Melbourne drove his car into a school while playing the game.
Of all the places you could crash your car while gaming, a school is one of the least sympathetic. His car smashed through a fence and ran into a school portable building at approximately 6:50pm last night, injuring no one.
Apparently, he was trying to navigate a roundabout, which has gotta be one of the shittiest times to be looking at your phone. C’mon man. That Pidgey can wait.
“Any Pokeballs, eggs or potions the driver may have had remaining only attracted police,” said Victoria Police spokeswoman Julie-Anne Newman, proving that cops should never attempt to engage with popular culture in any way, shape or form.
He’ll likely be charged with careless driving. May God have mercy on his soul.
