Mark Zuckerberg Walled Off His $100M Hawaiian Property To Keep Locals Out

Facebook founder and billionaire Mark Zuckerberg is usually portrayed as an alright bloke. He donates large sums of his money to worthy causes and earnestly seems as though he wants to make an actual difference in the world.

But it would appear the Zuck has developed a bit of a mean streak, issuing a bunch of lawsuits against hundreds of people who have claims to a 700-acre piece of land that he purchased in Hawaii
Worse yet, some of those recipients are no longer even alive.
Zuckerberg paid more than $100 million for the land on the Hawaiian island of Kauai in 2014 and within the last year, built an actual wall around it. It’s a baffling move from someone who recently had a stab at Donald Trump, saying “instead of building walls, we can build bridges.”
Old mate apparently filed the lawsuits to identify the owners of land on the property. Almost 300 people could be entitled to ancestral ownership of small patches of the land and obviously, he wants none of that. These Hawaiian natives have the legal right to “traverse the billionaire’s otherwise private domain.”
As a result of the US state’s “quiet title” law, the Zuck can appear before a judge who will have the final say on who rightfully owns the land. If the owners can’t come to some kind of accord, it can be auctioned off, leaving Mark clear to swoop in with his bottomless bank account to snatch it up.
It’s not the first time he’s been a weirdo with property, either. He last year spent $30 million buying up the four houses that surround his Palo Alto home, but then just demolished them.
The bloke’s either paranoid or really, really likes his privacy.
