iPhones Are Being Plagued By ‘Touch Disease’, So Has Yours Got Cooties?

Boy oh boy, the big players in the smartphone arena certainly aren’t having much luck lately.

If the Samsung Note7‘s perpetual exploding wasn’t bad enough, it looks like Apple are keen to join the device drama, with reports of of rampant “touch disease” occurring in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, or as we’ve affectionally dubbed it, ‘Phone Cooties’.
Touch disease refers to the screen of the device becoming increasingly unresponsive to touch input as it ages, rendering the phone completely fucking useless. According to online blog, ifixit.org, repairers are seeing a growing volume of these issues coming through their doors, particularly in the extra-cooked 6 Plus.
This problem now accounts for 11 percent of all Apple Store repairs, more than any other issue. Some Australian users have been lucky enough to score a replacement unit, other have not. Pray for iPhone 6 users.
How do you know if you’re affected by this particular flavour of smartphone plague? Well for starters, your screen will appear to freeze or become patchy in response to touch or swipe commands – which is a fkn disaster thanks to the iOS10 update. You might also notice a flickering grey bar at the top of the screen like the image below.
In Canada, two lawsuits have already been filed over the issue, as well as a nationwide class action lawsuit in the US, which even accuses Apple of covering up the problem. Naughty Apple.
The company are yet to publicly acknowledge the problem, but there is certainly a growing number of pissed off users applying much pressure, including even more lawsuits, AKA, America‘s specialty.
